
GESIA Dandia Dhamaal ’11
For the third year in legacy, a unique and historic event, GESIA Dandia Dhamaal ’11 was held on October 15, 2011 at Amiraj Farm, Ahmedabad. The entire ICT community of Gujarat came together on a common platform and celebrated the festival of dance with Live Performance of Well-known Singer Duo Prasad Kardam.
This year, GESIA also added an element of corporate social responsibility (CSR) to the event. It really was pleasure to invite Senior Citizens staying at old age home (Matru Gruh) to take part in GESIA Dandia Dhamaal’ 2011. GESIA also recognized the brilliant efforts of Team 108, by presenting the prizes to the members of a team working for emergency services 108 in Gujarat.
The GESIA Dandia Dhamaal '11 is an annual event of GESIA, being held since last two years and this was the third edition. It is being organized specially for the Electronics & ICT industry of Gujarat and promises to be a unique and one of its kind event. The event brings the ICT Industry - the companies, employees & professionals together to celebrate the festive season. More than 2500+ Khelaiyas enjoyed traditional dance of Garba and Ras.
Conference on GIFT SEZ - Emerging Business Opportunities For IT/ITeS
GESIA and GIFT (Gujarat International Finance TechCity) in association with E&Y (Ernst & Young) organised Conference on GIFT SEZ - Emerging Business Opportunities For IT/ITes on 4th October, 2011 at Hotel St. Laurn, Ahmedabad. The conference witnessed immense gathering of over 250 participants from ICT Industry of Gujarat.
Shri. Sunil Kakkad, President-GESIA & CMD-Sai InfoSystems (India) Ltd. welcomed the gathering. In his speech he mentioned that GESIA is ready to work with GIFT in multiple ways including tri- party interaction with Gujarat Technological University and arrangement of seminars across the state.
The Chief Guest of the function Shri. Ravi Saxena, IAS – Additional Chief Secretary, Department of Science & Technology, Govt. of Gujarat addressed the gathering. He praised the efforts made by GESIA & GIFT to organize such events. He also mentioned that these kind of events will pay a vital role for betterment of ICT Industry of Gujarat. The gathering was also addressed by Guest of Honor Shri. M. Sahu, IAS – Principal Secretary Industries & Mines Department.
Shri. Ramakant Jha, Director-GIFTCL described the multi services for SEZ in GIFT city in his speech.Shri. Dhinal Shah, Partner- Ernst & Young mentioned the Benefits of operating from GIFT SEZ in his presentation made at the conference. Shri. Rajiv Chugh, Partner- Ernst & Young also made presentation on Consolidating Operations in a SEZ. While making the presentation on GIFT, Shri. Dipesh Shah, Vice President - Corporate- Services & Business Development, GIFTCL draw the attention on OVERALL PLAN OF GIFT, FACILITIES OFFERED IN GIFT & HOW TO START OPERATIONS IN GIFT SEZ.
Shri Dewang Mehta Memorial Lecture 2011
Dewang Mehta Memorial Lecture 2011 was organized by NASSCOM, GIL and GESIA and supported by CSI at C C Mehta Auditorium, M.S. University, Vadodara on 29th August 2011.
Dewang Mehta played the role of the guru, to central and state governments, guiding them along the path towards IT-fication. He helped at least 19 state Governments draft their IT policies, and create the requisite infrastructure to aid the cause of software within their realms. Besides a dream for the software industry, Mehta had a blueprint for the IT industry and how it could be used effectively to change the lives of India’s teeming millions. He wanted the benefits of IT to make its way down to the grass root levels. His contribution to Indian IT Industry was unparalleled.
GIL decided to organize the lectures in association with NASSCOM and GESIA every year. This time this event, the 3rd series lecture, was organized in Vadodara. The event saw gathering of large number of students from various faculties of M.S. University and various other institutes, academicians, IT industries, non IT industries and dignitaries from various other areas.
Guest of Honor, Vadodara Municipal Commissioner, Shri Ashwini Kumar, shared his thoughts and plans on how he would like to improve the infrastructure and thus quality of life of citizens of Vadodara and that it is important to have citizens’ involvement in the process. Mr. V. Srinivas, CEO and Lead Researcher of illumine labs delivered the lecture on ‘Designing a Contributive Society’. He said Dewang Mehta was best example of a true contributor to the society. He shared ideas on how each and every individual can be converted into contributor to the society and how one can make a difference by thinking in terms of human outcomes and not mere set of activities. He stressed how on each individual can make a big difference being effective and with integrity at the same time.
The event was also attended by Shri K R Gururaja Rao, CMD, GIL, Dr. Chetan Samant of NASSCOM, Mr. Sunil Kakkad – President of GESIA, Mr. Maulik Bhansali – EC Member and President of GESIA Vadodara Chapter.
