Design Awareness Seminar

GESIA organized a daylong Seminar for its Members, called “Design Awareness Seminar”, under the “Design Clinic Scheme”, an initiative of Ministry of MSME, Govt of India, supported by NID. The Seminar was held on 18th June 2010 at Cambay Grand, Ahmedabad.

Chief Guest for the Seminar was Mr Pradyumna Vyas, Director - NID, who also happened to address the gathering. Mr D L Chandak Hon Secretary welcomed the gathering and Mr Arvind Patwari, Director, Development Institute-MSME, Ahmedabad, also attended the function.

“Design Awareness Seminar”, was aimed to help MSME (Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises) sectors and to generate awareness about design, take design interventions in their products, services and process.

This one day seminar was organized for the benefit of GESIA members, activities including design expert’s talk and interaction on understanding design, design methodology, best practices and design case studies.

Mr Shashank Mehta, Project Head, NID, Intorduced the scheme to all delegates. Presentations were as follows:-

  • “Strategic scope for Design” by Mr Shashank Mehta, Project Head, NID
  • “Effectiveness of Identity in Communication” by Mr Anil Sinha, Principle Designer, Communication Design, NID
  • “Design For Web Innovation” by, Mr Rupesh Vyas, Faculty Graphic Design, NID
  • “User Experience Design” by Mr Jingesh Khakhar, Coordinator New Media Design, NID.

The Seminar witnessed overwhelming participation and attendance of over 70 delegates.

Shri Narendrabhai Modi, Hon'ble Chief Minister, Govt of Gujarat invited Indo-ASEAN delegation to Vidhansabha

The Indo ASEAN delegation met the Chief Minister at Vidhansabha on 8th March 2010. The delegation comprised of 25 Business Delegates from ASEAN countries such as Australia, Myanmar, Philippines, Vietnam & Malaysia along with Mr Vichael Roaring, Commercial Attache, Embassy of The Republic of The Philippines at New Delhi.

The Chief Minister spoke of the capabilities of the state to support business in terms of infrastructure and benefits. All visiting delegates reciprocated by offering trade-ties support with Gujarat.

Government Dignitaries Shri Ravi Saxena, IAS – Principal Secretary, Dept of Science & Technology (GoG), Shri Mukesh Ved – Deputy Secretary, Dept of Science & Technology, Govt of Gujarat, Mr Gururaja Rao, CMD – Gujarat Informatics Ltd. (GoG) and Mr N D Panchal, Company Secretary – Gujarat Informatics Ltd. (GoG) accompanied the Hon'ble Chief Minister to the meeting.

GESIA's representation in the meet was led by Mr Nirav Shah – President, GESIA accompanied by Mr Jaimin Shah – Vice President-GESIA, Mr Pranit Banthia – Vice President-GESIA, Mr D L Chandak – Hon. Secretary-GESIA, Mr Malav Mehta – Hon. Treasurer-GESIA, Mr Pankaj Shah – Hon. Jt. Secretary-GESIA and Mr Nishant Verma – Executive Secretary, GESIA.

Indo Asean IT BSM

The 1st ever Indo ASEAN IT business Summit was held on 8th March 2010 at Ahmedabad. The ASEAN delegates from countries such as Australia, Myanmar, Philippines, Vietnam & Malaysia along with Mr Vichael Roaring, Commercial Attache, Embassy of The Republic of The Philippines at New Delhi, were flown in by Electronic and Computer Software Export Promotion Council (ESC). The event was organised by GESIA & GoG.

In the first half of the day, Indo ASEAN delegation met the Chief Minister at Vidhansabha on 8th March 2010. The delegation comprised of 25 Business Delegates from ASEAN countries such as Australia, Myanmar, Philippines, Vietnam & Malaysia along with Mr Vichael Roaring, Commercial Attache, Embassy of The Republic of The Philippines at New Delhi.

The Second half witnessed the summit at its peak at Cambay Grand. Mr J S Kochar, Chairman ESC-Gujarat welcomed the delegation and spoke on the ICT capabilities of Gujarat. A showcase of capabilities thru presentations followed by GESIA, 3rd Eye Voice IT SEZ, Quality BPO & Azure Knowledge Corp.

The function was addressed by Shri Ravi Saxena-IAS, Principal Secretary, Dept of Science & Technology, Govt of Gujarat, with attending dignitaries Shri Mukesh Ved-Deputy Secretary, Dept of Science & Technology, Govt of Gujarat, Mr Gururaja Rao-CMD, GIL and Mr N D Panchal- Company Secretary, GIL.

Shri Saxena emphasised that the Govt of Gujarat is keen on the growth front and is ready to extend and required help. He also conveyed that the Govt is keen enough to see INDIASOFT 2011 happening in Ahmedabad and is in talks with ESC & GESIA for the same.

Mr Nirav Shah, President GESIA & Mr Samuel Matunog VP, ICT Davao Inc, Philippines entered signed a pact thru MOU between the two Premier bodies, to establish relationships for Exchange of Information, Interaction with Delegations to promote business missions, Assistance in trade fairs, Buyers/Seller meets, to organize/Participate in Seminars & workshops, to promote Advisory services on industry status & prospects.

Mr Vichael Roaring, Commercial Attache, Embassy of The Republic of The Philippines at New Delhi, expressed his whole hearted welcome to the new trade-tie between GESIA & ICT Davao Inc, Philippines. He spent many hours discussing various bilateral issues & trade opportunities with the Government & GESIA authorities. Expressing the keen interest towards this new 'hand-shake', Mr Roaring invited Mr Nishant Verma-Executive Secretary GESIA, to visit the Embassy at New Delhi, to discuss & explore more fruitful business opportunities between Gujarat & Philippines.

A showcase of 'interest' in business was expressed by visiting delegates, from Australia, Philippines, Myanmar & Vietnam.

Mr Nirav Shah, President GESIA, Thanked the gathering and emphasised on the opportunities that can be minted thru trade-ties & such events.

The 2 + hour long closed door B2B meetings between the visiting ASEAN delegates & ICT companies of Gujarat, received fantastic response. It was a busy & hectic duration where all the participants were bent to capture the opportunities. Not to anyone's surprise, the success of the B2B meetings was immediate, with contract agreements & Pilot project contracts being conformed.

A Fine Indian Dining experience for the visiting delegates ended the evening, just to await for a promising business morning to follow.
