Job Fair with Times Ascent

GESIA and Times ASCENT organised Job Stop, An exclusive Job Fair for IT, ITES, Telecom Companies on 27th & 28th June 2009 at L. D. Engineering College, Ahmedabad. GESIA member companies were invited to participate in the Job Fair at a special discounted rate. The event received extensive media visibility, Print as well as Online. Shri. Raj Kumar, IAS - Secretary, Dept. of Science & Technology and Mr. N. D. Panchal - GIL also visited Job Stop and interacted with the participating companies.

At the two-day Job Fair, GESIA had also organised Four Parallel Knowledge Sessions. These Knowledge Sessions focused on the BPO sector, Hardware/System Integration, Software and IT Education & Training. During these sessions, 13 speakers from various leading companies gave presentations and interacted with the attendees. The Speakers focused on their relevant sectors, HR policies in their organizations and what they expect from prospective employees. The Knowledge sessions went a long way in facilitating the interaction between students, professionals and Industry experts. They also served to sensitize the delegates about the prevailing scenario and employment opportunities in various sectors.

The participating companies at the Job Fair were; (n)Code Solutions, Azure Knowledge Corporation, Collabera Technologies, Contech BPO Services, Etech Inc., HCL Infosystem, Hi-Tech Outsourcing Service, InnateLabs, Jayatma Informatics, Picasso Animation, Quality BPO Services, Sai InfoSystem (India) Ltd. and XDuce Infotech.

Around 7,500 jobs aspirants thronged the fair venue, where 13 IT and ITES companies from Ahmedabad and Vadodara had set up shop. While 380 candidates were selected on the spot, several others were shortlisted for the final rounds.

A Seminar on Importance of Information Security, Business Continuity & Business Risk Analysis Management Systems

GESIA in Association with BSI (British Standard Institution) had organised A Seminar on "Importance of Information Security, Business Continuity & Business Risk Analysis Management Systems". The seminar was held at Ahmedabad Management Association on 28th May 2009.

Venkataram Arabolu gave a presentation on; Information Security Management as per ISO 27001 standard requirements, Business Continuity Management as per BS 25999 standard requirements and Business Risk Analysis.

Nearly 50+ ICT companies were present in the seminar.

Copenhagen Business Day

GESIA in association with Copenhagen Capacity had organised Copenhagen Business Day - An Interactive Session for Indian ICT companies keen to explore business opportunities in Northern Europe. A senior delegation led by Mr. Morten Deudahl, Business Development Director, Copenhagen Capacity visited Ahmedabad to meet Indian companies interested in doing business in Denmark. The function was held at Hotel Fortune Landmark on 22nd April, 2009.

Mr. Morten Deudahl gave a presentation on Copenhagen Capacity and its services. He interacted with the delegates regarding the Industrial scenario in Denmark & Greater Copenhagen region. Enumerating the various benefits and advantages to companies interested in setting up shop in the country, Mr. Deudal also explained the tax systems and employment trends prevalent in the country.

Over 40 delegates attended the session and also interacted with the delegation.
