President Message

Dear GESIA Members;

It has indeed been a highly active and positive year at GESIA. During the year we have strengthened GESIA's standing as the nodal ICT association of Gujarat. All this was achieved through a multi-pronged activities with members, Industry & Govt., regular & mega events, publishing of Newsline, enhanced visibility, and the forming of synergistic relations with various institutions.

We were privileged to have Dr Ganesh Natarajan - Chairman, NASSCOM as Chief Guest at the GESIA Annual Awards 2009. Having also participated in NASSCOM Emerge forum Seminar, we keenly look forward to jointly working with NASSCOM in their activities in Gujarat.

As the voice of the ICT Industry of Gujarat, GESIA has also partnered with Govt. of Gujarat in some important initiatives for the development of ICT sector of Gujarat. We also participated in various activities of reputed educational institutions this year. During the year, GESIA participated in IIM Ahmedabad's International Conference, SIM 2009 as well as the GEDI Dialogue. Broadening our activity profile, we have formed synergistic relations with IIFS & ICAI, besides interacting with educational institutions like Nirma University, Dharamsinh Desai University, U V Patel Engg. College, etc. These are relationships which will reap rich benefits for GESIA's stature and also give a depth to our activity profile.

GESIA also organised interactions with 2 more International delegations - an Interactive Session with Copenhagen Capacity, Denmark and the representatives of the RAK (Ras Al Khaima) Free Trade Zone, UAE. We also organised a Seminar on Information Security and Business Risk Management with BSI Management Systems India Pvt. Ltd. To address the issues facing the BPO sector in Gujarat, we held an Interactive Meet with Mr Raj Kumar, IAS - Sec-DST, with leading BPO companies. The meet went a long way in putting into perspective these issues and how they can be addressed.

In the coming year, we would be organising the "GESIA Green - Towards a sustainable Future" Seminar, the Dewang Mehta Memorial Lecture with NASSCOM, various Issue-based Seminars and events at other cities of Gujarat.

This past year has been notable in terms of achievements, activities and stature. I am thankful to all the members, Executive Committee Members and Office Bearers for their support. I would also like to thank all the sponsors, institutions and senior Govt. officials for their support to GESIA.

With warm regards,

Nirav Shah
