Gujarat is all set to witness the largest gathering of Startup and Technology ecosystem from 12th Dec to 14th Dec 2019 at Vibrant Startups and Technology Summit 2019. The summit is being held at Science City, Ahmedabad.
Gujarat is home to 5000+ thriving small and medium high performing ICT Industries and is also rapidly moving towards becoming an important hub of technology startups. The summit is bringing together ICT Industry, Startups, User Industries, CIOs, Investors and Academia from across Gujarat and India on same platform to connect, network, learn and grow.
The summit will be inaugurated by Hon. CM of Gujarat Shri Vijaybhai Rupani on 12th Dec. The inaugural session will be graced by Mr. Anil Mukim, IAS – Chief Secretary to Government of Gujarat, Mr. M. K. Das, IAS Principal Secretary – Industries & Mines Department, Government of Gujarat, Mr. Peter Cook, British Dy. High Commissioner, Mr. Cyril Borle, Counsel and Trade Commissioner, Canada, Mr. Alex Pen, Director, TAITRA, Taiwan, Mr. Harish Mehta, Co-Founder NASSCOM & Founder & Executive Chairman of Onward Technologies and Mr. Rahul Sharma, President of Amazon Internet Services, India as Keynote speakers.
This summit is organized by GESIA IT Association in partnership with Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of Gujarat, supported by NASSCOM and ISODA, PWC as knowledge partner and K&D as event partner.
The summit will have over 90 National and International level stalwarts delivering knowledge talks in parallel tracks across various sectors with focus on futuristic subjects and opportunities over these 3 days of summit. These tracks will cover Agritech, Healthtech, Fintech, Edutech, AI, Cybersecurity, Analytics, Manufacturing 4.0, Women Centric Solutions, Governance, Smart Mobility and Gaming amongst various other technology and application areas.
The summit will be host to 500+ Technology companies from across Gujarat and nationally, 500+ MSME companies with CIO delegation, 50+ angel investors and venture capitalists, 1000+ aspiring startups through startup ecosystem partners from across the country, 12+ universities and premier education institutes and 1000+ other distinct visitors.
The Summit will also result into Publishing of Technical papers written by Senior Academicians on next generation technology. The compilation of this papers are carried out by SAL Institute of Technologies and GESIA IT Association. This papers will be published by International Publishers. Further with help of EDI, DST-GIL and GESIA IT Association Books on Technical Startups of Gujarat will be published as take away from the Summit.
As part of summit, VSTS IDEAThon 2019 was organized inviting Startups from across India to participate. It is a drive towards recognizing functional solutions or prototypes available from startup community across India. IDEAThon received overwhelming response with applications for participation from across India. They are being evaluated by prominent jury with help of PWC and iCreate along with domain experts aligned by GESIA IT Association. The winners will be awarded and will get opportunities to meet Industries, Investors and Venture Capitalists though various Industry and Startup Ecosystem partners like NASSCOM CoE, Startup warehouses and 100 Open Startups. Microsoft is Startups Emerge Partner for the IDEAThon and will be announcing Emerge X from Gujarat at this summit.
The summit is also host annual GESIA ICT Awards which will recognize excellence in Technology Industries and also Best Digital Transformation initiatives in Enterprises – manufacturing, education and public sector domains. All winners will be recognized at the Awards event on 13th Dec. 2019 at the summit in presence of Hon. Deputy Chief Minister Shri Nitin Bhai Patel. Mr. Meetul Patel, COO of Microsoft will deliver keynote address at the Awards ceremony.

Design Labs and Supercomputers for research and innovation
In order to inspire the creativity and innovation, the Department of Science & Technology, Govt of Gujarat is establishing Design Labs and Bio-informatics Labs in science and engineering colleges as a platform for the young students with creative and innovative ideas. In Design Lab, students will be able to make robot, control system, drone and similar products and transform their idea in to a tangible form.
In addition to this Government of Gujarat is providing High Performance Supercomputer facilities to the engineering and research institutions to conduct advance research with speed, and accuracy. Gujarat Council on Science & Technology (GUJCOST) is monitoring the Supercomputer and Design Lab programmes in the state to provide capacity building among students and faculties with advanced technologies to perform high-end computations for scientific, engineering and academic programs to address and catalyze the research using modelling, simulation and data analysis.
Hon’ble CM will hand over 10 supercomputers and 10 Design Lab equipments to the 20 different engineering institutions and university departments of the state. This step will lead to raising the technical acumen of the students and faculties in the state and they will be able to gain a competitive edge in their careers.
Ground Breaking Ceremony of Astronomy and Space Science Gallery in Science City:
The Ground Breaking Ceremony of the upcoming Science Galleries in Science City – Astronomy and Space Science Gallery, which is the third scientific gallery in Phase II development after Aquatic Science Gallery and Robotic Gallery is also scheduled to held tomorrow before inauguration of VSTS 2019.
Shri Vijay Rupani, Hon’ble CM of Gujarat will lay down the foundation stone of the Astronomy and Space Science gallery which is envisaged to be an impact making futuristic gallery focusing on astronomy and the engineering behind space exploration at an estimated cost of Rs.150.00 Crore.
The Astronomy and Space Science Gallery has been designed as the world-class gallery with state-of-the-art exhibits with digital planetarium, space observatory and outreach activities to instill and inspire young innovative minds to develop interests in science and space technologies.
